This course communicates parish requirements for preventing the abuse of children or vulnerable adults, defines child abuse terms, teaches how to identify and respond to signs of abuse, and explains both the law and its reporting requirements. This course is required for parents, volunteers, catechists, teachers, and school employees.

This program describes the basic reasons for teaching prevention and what must be done to create a safe environment. It offers age-specific information and considerations that will help adapt interactions with children and youth to fit age-related characteristics and abilities. This course is required for all Catholic school teachers, catechists and youth advisors.
